One man's hysterical rant ruined the holiday spirit of the passengers traveling from Gatwick to Venice. The man, who was being deported from UK to Itlay, screamed 'Allahu Akbar' 29 times, 'death is coming' 17 times, and 'we will die' nine times.
The unidentified illegal immigrant went on with his terrifying tirade throughout the two hour journey. In a 11 minute audio recording made by a fellow passenger, the man can be heard saying, "Hey, Allahu Akabar" and "today, we will die" repeatedly.
Families were reduced to tears as they were forced to endure the nightmarish scene. The Telegraph quoted a passenger named Lucy O'Sullivan, as saying,'the worst-case scenario was that we weren't going to get off that plane alive because we didn't know who the person was, what the circumstances were or anything. There was nothing explained to us. It was very daunting. But when we got up close we could see people were restraining him.(sic)'
The handcuffed immigrant was being guarded by officials of the Home Office - the Government department responsible for immigration and counter-terrorism. They tried their best to restrain him, but in vain.
Reports state that the man who was a failed asylum seeker, spent a year in a UK detention centre. The Home office spends $40 million a year on sending deportees back to their home countries. The airline apologised for the incident and said that it was reviewing the circumstances with the Home Office.
